Dr. Bak then completed a one-year rotating intership in small animal medicine and surgery here at Animal Specialty Group. Dr. Bak practiced general medicine and surgery in Los Angeles for over ten years and developed a special interest in feline and canine geriatric medicine, acupuncture, and physical rehabilitation. In 2006, Dr. Bak completed coursework in acupuncture with IVAS, the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society and obtained further study in China through the Chi Institute with a focus on geriatric medicine. In 2007, Dr. Bak completed coursework with the Canine Rehabilitation Institute and is a Certified Canine Rehailitation Therapist. Dr. Bak's other areas of interest include preventive medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, food therapy, and exploring other areas of complementary and alternative medicine practice. Dr. Bak is an active member of the CVMA, AAVA, AHVMA, and IVAS. In addition to her professional interests, she enjoys spending time with her husband Eric, traveling, photography, cooking, hiking, and is still trying to do more snowboarding than tumbling down a mountain. |

Dr. Joanne Bak earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine graduating with Honors in 1996.
