It’s never easy.

The loss of a furry family member is just that – the loss of a family member.  When it comes to grief, species doesn’t always make a difference. Although no two experiences are the same, we understand your anger, grief and pain. We have all been there ourselves, and we’re here for you.

Even with the best medical and surgical care available, no one’s life can be extended forever. When their suffering cannot be treated, euthanasia is the best option. We know it is painful to discuss, but you can count on us to be open, honest and caring about end-of-life decisions and planning. It may be the hardest thing you’ve ever done, but liberating them from pain and suffering may also be the kindest thing you’ve ever done.

Services Available

When it comes to the loss of a cherished pet, we can appreciate the unique, unconditional bond you both share, and are here to provide you with the support and resources you may need along the way.

There are many options available to help guide you through this delicate time, so you can rest assured that you and your little loved one will be in the best possible hands.

For more information on available support services, please refer to tabs in the column at right.

Hospice Care: Compassionate, supportive care and pain management may enable you to share a little more time with your beloved pet. Your family veterinarian may be able to help you with this, or refer you to another veterinarian that specializes in this form of care.

In-Home Euthanasia: Many clients prefer to say goodbye to their pets in their own homes, surrounded by loving family.  We recommend that you discuss this, and every aspect of euthanasia, with your family veterinarian. If they are not available, there are several area veterinarians that make house calls.

Bereavement Counseling: Everyone grieves differently, and there is no shame in your sorrow and loss. If you or a loved one are having difficulty dealing with grief, please consider a counselor to help you through this difficult time.

A donation in your pet’s name

To honor your pet’s memory, Animal Specialty Group will make a donation to the American College of Internal Medicine Foundation or to the American College of Veterinary Surgeons Foundation, as appropriate.
